Gravis Capital Management, a boutique asset manager specialising in infrastructure, property and private credit, is proud to announce its certification as a B Corporation (‘B Corp’).

The UK-based company joins an international movement of 8,596 businesses across 98 countries that meet B Corp’s high standard of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, alongside a commitment to goals that go beyond shareholder value.

The B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations and currently covers five main impact areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The achievement is a significant milestone for Gravis, as it highlights the positive impact Gravis has had on the asset management industry since it was founded in 2008.

Phil Kent, CEO at Gravis, said: “We are immensely proud to be joining the B-Corp community, standing alongside companies that share our values and are paving the way for change in the asset management sector. The way we see it, the most reliable returns are linked to the most needed and most sustainable assets. We screen for investments that align with our values, promote sustainability and benefit society. Because Gravis’ Funds have a low turnover rate, we can work with investee companies, borrowers, property developers and operators on the area of ESG, promoting responsible investment and making change happen as a result.”

Chloe Marlow, Director of Fund Finance and Operations at Gravis, added: “The B Corp process is a rigorous and independent assessment of a company’s impact on people and the planet, measuring its carbon footprint all the way to how it empowers its employees. Gravis earned an overall score of 99.4 points on the B Impact Assessment, which is a fantastic achievement - a minimum of 80 points is required to achieve B Corp status. This certification strengthens our commitment and will inspire us to do more.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gravis to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Gravis is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
